Summer 2007 volume 9

I never wanted to stop listening to volume 8 (see previous post). While packing for August vacation, I slapped this together, no longer worrying about not repeating an artist or using a song that’s already on the radio. This turns out to be wifey’s and Alina’s favorite (some people like things to be familiar). I was happy to have a place to put some Albert Hammond Jr., whose CD came to my attention right after I burned volume 8.

Here’s a different track from his CD. It’s called “In Transit (Obstinate):

Back to School (2004)

Volume 2; a little harder to please this time, I started to troll the web for songs that weren’t being played on the radio. Some were, but were so cool I had to include them (Killers, Von Bondies), U2 hadn’t been released yet but was obviously going to be huge; too huge, in fact. I regret including it. No regrets about this one though, by Head Automatica, still a fave of G’s:

Alt-rock summer 2004

The eddieo compilation series began here. Frustrated with the lameness of Boston radio, at least during my waking hours, I trolled the web, picking songs mostly from the late night playlists of WFNX an KROQ (LA). Certainly not discovering anything, I basically time-shifted the good, cutting edge tunes to the daytime. Some became mainstream hits eventually, some didn’t, but all are pretty well known now.
